FAQ
Who is EasyEnzyme for?
EasyEnzyme is designed for people living with pancreatitis or exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI) who take pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy with meals.
The app aims to help reduce the uncertainty around estimating how many enzymes might be needed for different types of meals.
Does the app tell me the exact number of enzymes to take?
No. Everyone’s pancreatic function is different, and enzyme requirements vary from person to person.
EasyEnzyme estimates the nutritional composition of a meal and suggests a range of enzyme capsules that may be appropriate. You can then use this range alongside your own experience and the advice of your doctor or dietitian.
How does the app analyse meals?
You can either take a photo of your meal or describe the meal in text.
The app analyses this information to estimate the meal’s protein, carbohydrate, and fat content, and then uses that estimate to suggest a possible enzyme range.
Do I have to photograph every meal?
No. Many people use the app only for meals where the enzyme dose is less obvious, such as:
- restaurant meals
- takeaway food
- unfamiliar dishes
- mixed meals with multiple ingredients
It can also be helpful simply as a sense-check for meals you’re unsure about.
Which enzymes does this apply to?
The guidance is intended for people taking pancreatic enzyme replacement therapies such as Creon and similar medications prescribed for pancreatic insufficiency.
What if the suggested enzyme range doesn’t match what usually works for me?
That’s completely normal.
Everyone’s pancreatic function and enzyme needs are different, and many people develop a good understanding over time of what works best for them.
EasyEnzyme is designed to help estimate the size and composition of a meal, but your own experience and the advice of your healthcare team should always guide your final decision.
Can the app recognise complex meals or mixed dishes?
The app aims to estimate the overall nutritional composition of a meal, even when foods are mixed together.
However, meals can vary widely in ingredients and preparation methods, so the results should always be viewed as a helpful estimate rather than an exact calculation.
When in doubt, users often choose a value within the suggested range that best matches their usual enzyme needs.
Is EasyEnzyme medical advice?
No. EasyEnzyme is designed to provide general guidance only and should not replace medical advice.
You should always follow the recommendations of your doctor, gastroenterologist, or dietitian when managing pancreatic enzyme therapy.
Why is there a subscription?
Running the app involves ongoing costs such as hosting and image analysis.
The subscription helps cover those costs and allows the tool to continue improving over time. The aim is simply to keep the service running and useful for the pancreatic health community.
Is there a free version?
Yes. EasyEnzyme includes a limited free version so people can try the app and see whether it’s helpful for them.
If you find the tool useful, the subscription helps keep the service running and allows it to continue improving.
Is my data private?
EasyEnzyme is designed to keep things simple and respectful of user privacy.
Meal photos and descriptions are used only to generate the nutritional estimate and enzyme suggestion.
Can I give feedback or suggestions?
Absolutely. EasyEnzyme is still evolving, and feedback from people living with pancreatic conditions is incredibly valuable.
If you have ideas or suggestions for improvements, I’d genuinely love to hear them.
Who created EasyEnzyme?
EasyEnzyme was created by Stewart Greenwood, a pancreatitis patient who wanted a practical way to reduce the everyday guesswork around enzyme dosing.
